Gain Five to 10 Pounds of Muscle in One Month
How a Hainesville, IL personal trainer is turning the fitness world upside down.
Chicago, IL – Anyone who has tried to bulk up and build muscle quickly knows it is quite a daunting task. But according to Hainesville native Nick Nilsson, a renowned personal trainer, body builder and author of Muscle Explosion (Price World Publishing, January 1, 2011), gaining muscle in a short period of time can be done relatively easily by following his program.
Not too long ago Nilsson had just 140 pounds on his 5-foot-11 frame; he now carries 215 pounds of muscle. He transformed his body with hard work and a program he designed himself. Now he’s telling everyone else how to do it, too.
Muscle Explosion: 28 Days to Maximum Mass lays out a four-week eating and exercise plan that will help fitness enthusiasts put on five to 10 or more pounds of muscle in a month. It’s a result rarely seen with other fitness programs.
Taking all he learned from his degree in physical fitness and psychology, Nilsson developed the Muscle Explosion program by conducting dieting and exercise “experiments” on himself and his fitness clients. It’s an approach that led those clients, and other trainers, to nickname him “The Mad Scientist.”
“It’s true,” Nilsson says. “I was given that nickname because I love to experiment and create new exercises and training techniques. I’m not afraid to push things to the limit or try things that are normally considered completely backwards.”
How does it work?
The plan begins with a short, strict diet that reduces caloric intake and briefly eliminates protein. It moves on to an eating regimen that overloads the body with food and nutrients, plus a training routine that alternates among very high exercise repetitions, very low repetitions with little rest between, training the same body part with the same exercise for five days straight, stretching muscles without doing any stretching, doing lots of cardio exercise and then none, and staying far away from muscle failure and going far beyond it. It’s a combination of nutritional manipulation and extremely targeted training that creates a “slingshot” effect to accelerate muscle-building.
“It sounds crazy,” Nilsson says. “But I found that the more I diverged from standard advice and training, the better results I got. That’s because the standard ‘rules’ are arbitrary. By breaking them in a very specific way, for specific physiological reasons, you can really set the stage for massive muscle gains. You can literally see changes in your body on an almost daily basis.”
Muscle Explosion began when Nilsson challenged himself by doing everything he knew how to do to maximize rapid muscle gain all at the same time. “There’s a scientific basis for all the exercises and training techniques I use. But, I admit, I am a bit insane when it comes to training. That’s what makes it fun, not only for me, but for everybody who uses my exercises and programs.”
In the book, Nilsson backs up his program with extensive explanation, detailed how-to charts that are ready for copying and taking to the gym, tips on eating and supplements, and plenty of encouraging words. He even urges readers to email him with questions.
Muscle Explosion (978-0-9724102-9-8) will be available on Amazon.com, BarnesandNobles.com and in stores nationwide January 1st for $14.95.
